George Denison Prentice : papers, 1851-1862.

Papers contain two documents, 1851 Feb. 20 and May 23, that announce a fine arts exhibition and a lottery in Louisville and St. Louis featuring a bust of Henry Clay by Leonard Volk. A letter, 1862 July 1, noting that because of a partial paralysis of the arm, Prentice has been unable to write. A letter, 1862 June 9, of introduction from Prentice addressed to Governor Johnson (probably Andrew Johnson).

Leonard Wells Volk (1828-1895) was an American sculptor. Born November 7, 1828 in Wellstown (now Wells), New York, he was one of twelve children of Garrett and Elizabeth Gesner Volk.
